With the UN’s Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the New Urban Agenda adopted in Habitat III and ICOMOS resolutions 18GA 2014/37 and 19GA 2017/21, it has become a fundamental priority to focus on how heritage can contribute to inclusive sustainable development.

The ICOMOS 2018 Scientific Symposium to be held in La Plata (on the occasion of the ICOMOS Consultative Committee that will take place in Buenos Aires on previous days) will focus on the proposals “the role that cultural heritage can play in sustainable development […] identify methods, to evaluate the compensations and create synergies, so that the cultural values and the concerns of the community are integrated in the development processes “.

The Scientific Symposium will use a new format that offers a range of opportunities for delegates to explore and get involved with the overall theme. The formats will be knowledge cafes / workshops and thematic works as case study sessions.

The selected proposals were evaluated by the Scientific Committee prioritizing in their evaluation the collaborative work, the articulated justification and the commitment with emerging professionals
